Fatboy Slim – Big Beach Bootique album review

fatboy1OK, I don’t get it.

Sure, Fatboy Slim’s been around for quite a while and can undoubtedly be credited (for better or for worse) with adding a few extremely popular big beat mash-ups to the universal pop music lexicon. But in an era in which even electronic music’s most mainstream stars like Skrillex and Deadmau5 are crafting weird, stutter-stepping anthems out of a litany of different musical styles, Fatboy Slim, a.k.a. Norman Cook, sounds outpaced and, frankly, outmoded.

Team Spirit – Team Spirit EP album review

01-004_TeamSpiritEPLayout_V4_1500x1500.164704Punchy and energetic, Team Spirit’s new self-titled EP is a fun 5 song indie pop party. Running full steam ahead and never stopping, the songs are supremely catchy and energetic, and the perfect thing to kick the spring into high gear.

How I Became Invisible – Planetary

cover-1A trip through the solar system, an anthropomorphication of celestial bodies, an emotional journey through a year lost in the wilderness, and a pop-rock concept album, How I Became Invisible’s first full-length, Planetary, is certainly an ear-catching debut LP. Crowdfunded through Kickstarter and recorded in a local studio, Planetary is the brainchild of Nicholas Reed, taking what he’s learned as bass player/vocalist/co-songwriter of Philadelphia’s own Robots & Racecars and crafting catchy hooks & fun melodies all in the name of science.

We all like stupid fun. It’s a proven fact that a good fart joke will send the average man into a small fit of laughter. Ted is a 120 min fart joke.
