Victory – Victory Is Music album review

victory1A musical stew of retro, 60s psychedelia, and modern indie rock mixed with the pop sensibilities of a master songwriter, Victory’s debut full-length, Victory Is Music, is an astounding album, every track a hit in the making. The brainchild of songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Robert Fleming, Victory looks both back and forward at the same time, and is all the better for it.

Triple Hex – EP album review

triple hex 1Though the riffs are tasty and the drums groove, Triple Hex’s new EP is far from what I’d consider “good”.

The Expendables 2 movie review

All the big action stars of today and yesterday starring together in one B-movie actioner for the ages seems like a good idea, right? The general audience seemed to think so, as the first Expendables was a massive hit, enough so that a sequel was green lit. Most of the cast is back, with little explanation or exposition given or needed, really. But is it any good? Well, yes and no…

Why You Call My Girlfriend, Nicholas

Well, the other day I explained how I decided to use PrankDial after getting calls from their site many times.  My first target was Matthew and I have already posted the results.  You can find them elsewhere on this site.  (here).  My second target was his band mate, Nicholas.  The results are just as good, if not better.  Take a listen to the call here.

Better quality audio

As The Stabcast moves into its 4th year, we have decided to make better quality audio available for streaming and download.  Previously the audio quality was set to 24k, we have increased the quality 3 times to 64k.

When the show started we wanted to keep the file sizes low, so chose the lower quality.  4 years later people know have faster internet connections and larger hard drives and media devices.  Files sizes will increase from around 20 MB to 50 MB.

Thursdays of Steel: Top Five Beer League Sports

#5. Volleyball
Volleyball is so low on this list as it tends to be everyone’s least favorite sport growing up. Hell, even in adult hood; but as something to play while drinking during the holidays, it’s great. I’m shocked i haven’t really heard of any beer leagues for volleyball as it seems like one of the easier sports to play whilst drinking. With a full team (I seem to remember 9 people; 3 rows of 3), there is very little moving around and the only risks are looking like a fool missing the serve and puking after taking a good hit from a spiked ball.
